Water Sensitive Urban DesignAcknowledgements
Melbourne Water is responsible for managing waterways in Greater Melbourne. We aim to improve the quality and environmental health of these waterways as a key part of our objective to sustainably manage sustainable Melbourne's water resources and the environment.
Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) is identified as a Best Practice approach to integrated water cycle management. It provides for the sustainable management and improvement of the quality of water entering Melbourne's waterways from urban regions. Through collaborative efforts with councils, developers and other relevant authorities, this Best Practice approach is being incorporated into urban developments and road designs across Victoria.
Stormwater management focus makes use of WSUD through the treatment of urban pollution removal but complements the water cycle by enabling the reuse of the water and subsequent protection of Port Phillip Bay and waterways of Melbourne.
The intention of this site is to provide publicly accessible information on Water Sensitive Urban Design for the purposes of education, awareness, adoption, discussion and interest.
